From the sticker to the service line.

The job every appliance tech hates: copying a serial number off a sticker behind the fridge, then typing it again on the invoice.

  1. Take the photo.

Open the job and add a photo, from the camera or the gallery. It's saved with the job's photos either way, so the label is on file the next time that customer calls.

  2. It gets read.

The label is read for what matters: appliance type, brand, model number and serial. A suffix after a slash, like /00, stays on the model. The job shows a Detected from a photo card with what it found, and a button to copy it.

  3. Insert into a new service.

One tap opens a new service line. It takes the name and price of your matching service template, and Make, Model Number and Serial Number go into the description, each on its own line. Problem and service are yours to write. Edit anything, save.

  • Named for the appliance. The line reads Refrigerator repair, not LG Repair. The brand goes in the description, where the customer can see what was fixed.
  • Priced from your templates only. No template for that appliance? The line is named for it and the price is left to you.
  • Snap the fridge, then the label. New photos on a job are checked until one turns out to be a nameplate. After that, the rest are just photos of the repair.
  • On paper, too. Make, model and serial print on the estimate and the invoice PDF, and stay with the job in the customer's history.
  • Feeds Draft. Tap Draft on the job and the reading is used with the customer's notes to propose the service lines, priced from your templates.

It works on a readable label with a signal. A faded, greasy or half-hidden plate may come back with nothing, and it never guesses. You can always type it in.

A job in the app: the customer's house, name, phone and address, the arrival window, Invoice and Pay, On my way and Arrived, and the Services list with a refrigerator repair, its make and model number in the description.
Where it lands: the job's Services list. The appliance details sit under the repair's name, so they print on the estimate and the invoice.

Questions techs ask

Which appliances can it read?
Any appliance with a readable nameplate: refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, microwaves, beverage fridges and the rest. It reads what the appliance is, the brand, the model number and the serial number.
What if the label is faded or greasy?
Anything it can't read with confidence comes back blank instead of guessed. Wipe the plate and take another photo, or type the numbers in yourself. Nothing is filled in that it didn't actually read.
Does it need a signal?
Yes, reading a nameplate needs a connection. In the phone app you can still open the job without one, and change its services if you opened them on that phone before; it syncs when you're back in range. The customer's signature needs a connection.
Does it fill in the price too?
Only from your own service templates. If you have a template for that appliance, the new line takes its name and price. If not, the line is named after the appliance and you set the price.
Will the customer see the serial number?
Make, model and serial go into the service line's description, so they print on the estimate and the invoice. You can edit or remove any of it before you send.

Next serial number? Take a picture.
