Move in, in three steps.

Do it twice if you have both: once with the customer list, which carries the phones and emails, and once with the job history, which carries the dates and amounts. Either order works.

Export your data.
From your old software or your own spreadsheet, save the customer list, the job history or both as .xlsx or CSV, with the column headers in the first row.
Pick the file.
In Customers, tap Import data (it's in Settings, too) and choose the file. OnsiteBoard works out whether it's a customer list or a job history, and shows what it found and what's missing before anything is added.
Import.
Every customer row is matched against the customers you already have, by phone number first, then by name and address. When it's done you're told how many were added, updated and skipped.

What comes in, and what doesn't double.

Customers, not duplicated. A match only gets its blank details filled in. Nothing you typed is overwritten, and a repeat is skipped. Import the same customer list twice and you still have one of each.
History that counts. Completed jobs arrive closed and paid, with their total as a service line and a payment, so your revenue reports are right from day one. Scheduled jobs come in as upcoming; canceled ones are skipped.
Columns it understands. One name column, or first and last. Mobile, cell, home or work phone. One address column, or street, city, state and ZIP. Email and notes.
Yours to take back out. Export your customers and your payments as CSV any time, and save or print any estimate or invoice as a PDF.

Import each job history file once. Its customers are matched like any other, but the jobs themselves are added every time the file is imported.

Questions techs ask

What files can I import?

A spreadsheet saved as .xlsx, or a CSV file, with the column headers in the first row. Most field service software and every spreadsheet app can save one.

My jobs export has no phone numbers. Is that a problem?

No, and the preview says so before you import. Customers in that file are matched by name and address, and new ones come in without contact details. Import your customer list as well and their phones and emails fill in.

Will importing twice create duplicate customers?

No. Every row is matched by phone, then by name and address, and a repeat is skipped. A job history file is different: its jobs are added each time, so import it once.

Will it overwrite what I've already typed?

No. A customer who's already in OnsiteBoard only gets the details they were missing, like a phone number or an address. Nothing you entered is replaced.

What if it can't read my file?

It tells you before importing anything. If it can't find a name or phone column, it says so and asks you to check that the first row holds the column headers.
