How to price window cleaning jobs
A window cleaning price is a count times a price. Count the glass, decide whether you are cleaning both sides or only the outside, and multiply. Then add the things that are not glass: screens, tracks and sills. Then add for what makes the same glass take longer: a second story, small divided panes, hard water spots. The calculator above does that arithmetic; the list below is where your own prices go.
Window cleaning price per window or per pane
Some window cleaners count windows and some count panes. A pane is one piece of glass, so a window that opens in two halves is two panes. Counting panes follows the work more closely on a home with large picture windows next to small ones; counting windows is quicker to quote. The starting list below counts panes. If you count windows, set your price per window and use it the same way on every estimate.
Inside and out, or outside only
Outside only is a shorter visit: nothing to move inside the house and no tracks to clean. Keep a separate price for it, as the list does, and write on the estimate which of the two the customer is getting.
A minimum service charge
A small job still has the drive, the setup and the paperwork. A minimum service charge is the least a visit costs, whatever the count comes to. Put it on your list and say it when you quote. The calculator uses it when the count comes to less.
What adds to the price
Glass on a second story, small divided panes, hard water spots and the first cleaning after construction all take longer than the same glass in ordinary condition. Give each its own line and its own amount. Screens, sliding doors and skylights are counted and priced on their own lines as well.
