How to price pressure washing jobs

A pressure washing price is either a flat price for a job you can see whole, or a count times a rate for a surface that comes in every size. A two-car driveway, a house soft wash and a roof are flat. A patio, a long walk, a pool deck or a fence is measured. The calculator above takes both; the list below is where your own numbers go.

Pressure washing price per square foot

For concrete, pavers and fences, measure before you quote: length times width for a slab, the run along the line for a fence. Keep one rate for cleaning and a higher one for sealing, since sealing is a second visit of work on the same square feet. Write the square feet and the rate on the estimate, so the customer can see where the total came from and the next job on the same slab costs the same.

Soft wash and roof

A house soft wash and a roof soft wash are their own lines, priced flat by the house. Many pressure washers quote them from the number of stories and the siding, and keep a separate price for the roof, since it takes a different mix and more time. Put each on its own line even when you do both on one visit.

A minimum service charge

A small job still has the drive, the setup, the hoses out and the hoses back. A minimum service charge is the least a visit costs, whatever the count comes to. Put it on your list and say it when you quote. The calculator uses it when the sum comes to less.

Condition and stains

Heavy mildew, oil, rust and years of grime take longer than the same surface in ordinary condition. Rust stain removal is a line of its own; for the rest, look before you quote and write what you saw on the estimate. The customer sees what the extra is for, and the clean driveway next year costs what your list says.

Pressure washing price questions

Should I charge by the square foot or by the job?
Both. Flat prices for the jobs you can see whole and do every week, a square-foot rate for surfaces that come in every size. Say on the estimate which one the customer is looking at.
How do I bid a pressure washing job I have not seen?
Ask for the address, what is to be cleaned and the number of stories, give a price for that, and say it holds if the place is as described. Measure the concrete when you arrive.
Do I charge more for a house with two stories?
Many pressure washers keep one soft wash price for a one-story house and a higher one for two. Pick your two numbers and put them on the list.
What is a minimum service charge?
The least you charge for coming out. If the count comes to less, the visit costs the minimum.
How do I price a customer who books every year?
Set a price per visit and write it on the estimate. When the work changes, tell the customer before the visit the new price applies to, not on the invoice after it.
