What to put on a pressure washing invoice

Price by surface: driveway, house wash, deck. One line each, with the size if you charge by the square foot.

  • your business name, phone and email
  • your customer's name and the address of the job
  • an invoice number and the date
  • each service and each part on its own line, with quantity and rate
  • any discount, tax and deposit already paid
  • the total, and how and by when to pay

What an invoice has to show can differ by state, so check what applies where you work. This is general information, not tax or legal advice.

What each line on this invoice is for

Pressure washing is priced by the surface. A customer wants to see each surface, its size and what it cost.

A surface by the square foot
The driveway, with square feet in the quantity column and your rate per square foot.
A surface at a flat price
The house wash, with what it covered: single story, all sides.
A treatment
Extra work on stains gets its own line, so the customer sees it was more than a rinse.

In the notes, write what you could not get out, such as rust or old stains, and anything that was already damaged when you arrived.

Where pressure washing paperwork goes wrong: one line that says house and driveway. Name each surface and give its size, so the next visit can be priced from the last invoice.

Pressure washing invoice questions

Should I price by the square foot or by the job?

Both work. Square feet are easy to explain on flat surfaces. A flat price is simpler for a house wash, where the size is harder to measure.

How do I show a minimum charge?

As its own line, named as your minimum for a visit, and told to the customer when they book.

Do I list what I used on the stains?

A line such as stain treatment is enough on the invoice. Keep what you used in your own notes, and tell the customer if they ask.

How do I bill a job I could not finish because of rain?

Invoice the surfaces you finished. List the rest in the notes with the day you plan to come back.

How do I invoice a repeat customer?

Start from the last invoice. If the surfaces are the same, the lines are the same, and the customer sees the same prices.
