What to put on a dryer vent cleaning invoice

Name the vent run you cleaned and its length if you price by it. A new hose or vent cover goes on its own line.

  • your business name, phone and email
  • your customer's name and the address of the job
  • an invoice number and the date
  • each service and each part on its own line, with quantity and rate
  • any discount, tax and deposit already paid
  • the total, and how and by when to pay

What an invoice has to show can differ by state, so check what applies where you work. This is general information, not tax or legal advice.

What each line on this invoice is for

A dryer vent job is short, and the customer sees none of it. The invoice has to say where the vent runs and what came out of it.

The cleaning
Where the vent exits, roof or wall, and the length of the run if you price by it.
What was in the way
A nest or a blockage removed is its own line.
Parts installed
A vent guard or a new transition hose, one line each.

In the notes, write what you found: a crushed hose, a long run, a loose joint, a nest.

Where dryer vent paperwork goes wrong: a line that says vent cleaning and nothing more. Name where the vent exits and how long the run is; it explains the price.

Dryer vent cleaning invoice questions

Why does a roof exit cost more, and how do I show it?

It takes longer and means going up. Put the exit in the description, so the price explains itself.

How do I invoice several units in one building?

One line with the number of units in the quantity column, or one line per unit with its number.

How do I show a nest or a blockage?

As its own line. It was extra work, and the customer should see that it was found and removed.

Should I write down what I measured?

If you take an airflow reading before and after, write both in the notes as plain numbers.

How do I invoice a property manager?

Put the building and the unit number on each line, so the manager can pass the cost on.
