What to put on a dryer vent cleaning estimate

Name the vent run you cleaned and its length if you price by it. A new hose or vent cover goes on its own line.

  • your business name, phone and email
  • your customer's name and the address of the job
  • an estimate number, the date and how long the price holds
  • each service and each part you plan to supply on its own line, with quantity and rate
  • any discount, tax and deposit to start
  • the total, and what the price leaves out

What an estimate has to show can differ by state, so check what applies where you work. This is general information, not tax or legal advice.

What each line on this estimate is for

A dryer vent job is short, and the customer sees none of it. The invoice has to say where the vent runs and what came out of it.

The cleaning
Where the vent exits, roof or wall, and the length of the run if you price by it.
What was in the way
A nest or a blockage removed is its own line.
Parts installed
A vent guard or a new transition hose, one line each.

In the notes, write what you found: a crushed hose, a long run, a loose joint, a nest.

Where dryer vent paperwork goes wrong: a line that says vent cleaning and nothing more. Name where the vent exits and how long the run is; it explains the price.

Dryer vent cleaning estimate questions

What do I ask before I estimate?

Where the dryer sits, where the vent exits, and roughly how long the run is.

How do I price a roof exit?

As its own line or at its own price, named as a roof exit, so the customer sees why it differs from a wall exit.

What should a dryer vent estimate leave out?

Say it in the notes: a vent that has to be rerouted or replaced, and anything inside the dryer itself.

How do I estimate a building with many units?

A price per unit and the number of units. Say how many you can do in a visit.

How long should the price hold?

Put a date on it. The estimate maker lets you set how long the price holds.
