What to put on a pet waste removal estimate

Show the rate per visit or per week and the number of dogs if your price depends on it. A one-time cleanup is a separate line.

  • your business name, phone and email
  • your customer's name and the address of the job
  • an estimate number, the date and how long the price holds
  • each service and each part you plan to supply on its own line, with quantity and rate
  • any discount, tax and deposit to start
  • the total, and what the price leaves out

What an estimate has to show can differ by state, so check what applies where you work. This is general information, not tax or legal advice.

What each line on this estimate is for

Pet waste removal is regular work at a small price per visit. The invoice is mostly a count: visits, dogs, and anything extra.

Visits
The number of visits in the quantity column and your price per visit, with the number of dogs in the description.
A first cleanup
The first visit usually takes longer and gets its own line.
An extra
A deodorizer or a similar extra, on its own line.

In the notes, write the days you came and any visit you could not do, with the reason, such as a locked gate.

Where pet waste paperwork goes wrong: a monthly number with no visits behind it. Show the visits and the price per visit, and the monthly total explains itself.

Pet waste removal estimate questions

What do I ask before I estimate?

How many dogs, the size of the yard, and how long since it was last cleaned.

Should the first cleanup be a separate line?

Yes. The customer sees one price to get started and another for the regular visits.

How do I show weekly and twice-weekly prices?

Send two estimates, one for each, so the customer can approve the one they want.

What should the estimate leave out?

Say it in the notes: areas the dogs do not use, and anything other than pet waste.

How long should the price hold?

Put a date on it. The estimate maker lets you set how long the price holds.
