What to put on a pressure washing estimate

Price by surface: driveway, house wash, deck. One line each, with the size if you charge by the square foot.

  • your business name, phone and email
  • your customer's name and the address of the job
  • an estimate number, the date and how long the price holds
  • each service and each part you plan to supply on its own line, with quantity and rate
  • any discount, tax and deposit to start
  • the total, and what the price leaves out

What an estimate has to show can differ by state, so check what applies where you work. This is general information, not tax or legal advice.

What each line on this estimate is for

Pressure washing is priced by the surface. A customer wants to see each surface, its size and what it cost.

A surface by the square foot
The driveway, with square feet in the quantity column and your rate per square foot.
A surface at a flat price
The house wash, with what it covered: single story, all sides.
A treatment
Extra work on stains gets its own line, so the customer sees it was more than a rinse.

In the notes, write what you could not get out, such as rust or old stains, and anything that was already damaged when you arrived.

Where pressure washing paperwork goes wrong: one line that says house and driveway. Name each surface and give its size, so the next visit can be priced from the last invoice.

Pressure washing estimate questions

Can I estimate from photos?

For a driveway or a deck, often yes, if the customer gives the size. Say in the notes that the price is based on the photos and the sizes given.

What should a pressure washing estimate leave out?

Say it in the notes: stains that may not come out, areas you cannot reach, and anything the customer has to move before you start.

Should I list each surface?

Yes. The customer can then take the driveway now and the deck later, without a new estimate.

How do I show a price for doing several surfaces at once?

List each surface at its own price and put the saving on a discount line, so the customer sees what doing them together is worth.

How long should the price hold?

Put a date on it. The estimate maker lets you set how long the price holds.
